UFOA A U20: Guinea-Bissau withdraws
Guinea-Bissau will not take part in the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. The team has withdrawn from the ongoing UFOA A qualifying tournament, which has been underway since October 15 in Bamako, Mali.
Last-minute withdrawal
The sub-regional body announced the decision in a statement on Friday. The reasons for the last-minute withdrawal of Guinea-Bissau’s national U20 team have not been officially disclosed. Guinea-Bissau were due to enter the competition on Friday against Sierra Leone.
Group B reduced to three teams
The withdrawal changes the composition of Group B, which now contains only three teams: Senegal, Mauritania and Sierra Leone. The group’s updated schedule is expected to be published in the coming hours.
Group B gets underway today. The defending champions, the Senegal, begin their campaign against Mauritania at 4 p.m. GMT at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako.
