Press reports have revealed that Chelsea is very interested in signing Moroccan star Yassine Gessime, who is delivering excellent performances in France with Strasbourg. However, will the competition for the player prove easy for Chelsea?

Press reports have revealed that negotiations have made significant progress regarding Chelsea’s pursuit of a standout Moroccan star, who has also been turning heads with his performances for the Moroccan national team.

An excellent performance from the Moroccan star

Having arrived in Strasbourg from Dunkirk at the start of the year for a fee believed to be around €7 million, Yassine wasted no time in making his mark. Across 25 outings in Alsace colours, the winger has found the net twice and set up three more, producing attacking displays that appear to have caught Chelsea's eye.

The Moroccan wide man, who is also drawing interest from FC Barcelona — as exclusively revealed by Africafoot — has further boosted his reputation with standout showings in certain Ligue 1 fixtures, most notably against RC Lens in August, when his performance earned him the man-of-the-match award. Such displays only add to his appeal, particularly as Chelsea look to continue their strategy of signing young players with high potential.
