🔴 Official: Argentina and Iran secure their place for the 2026 World Cup!

Argentina and Iran have officially secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Iranian national team booked their ticket to the World Cup after a 2-2 draw against Uzbekistan, during the eighth matchday of the third round of Asian qualifiers (Group A).

Thanks to this result, the Lions of Persia strengthen their position at the top with 20 points, three more than Uzbekistan, who also remain well-positioned to secure a direct qualification.

According to the current format of Asian qualifiers, the top two teams from each group qualify directly for the World Cup, while the third and fourth-placed teams must go through the intercontinental playoffs. In this phase, six nations will compete for the last two available spots.

Argentina qualifies thanks to a draw between Uruguay and Bolivia

Argentina, the reigning world champions, secured their ticket for the 19th World Cup in their history without playing, benefiting from a 0-0 draw between Uruguay and Bolivia tonight at the "El Alto" stadium in Bolivia, during the 14th matchday of South American qualifiers.

The teams qualified so far for the 2026 World Cup are:

Host countries: United States, Mexico, Canada.
Qualified via the qualifiers: Japan, New Zealand, Iran, Argentina.
