The Algerian women's national team faced their Zambian counterparts this Wednesday in their final warm-up match ahead of the Women's AFCON, gaining a significant morale boost. Farid Bensiti’s players secured a 1-0 victory.

Naïli seals the win

After reaching the quarterfinals last time out, Les Fennecs surprised the Copper Queens. The only goal of the game came from Nihed Naïli in the 83rd minute. Zambia nearly equalized, but Ochumba Oseke missed a penalty in the 88th minute. Notably, the two teams had drawn 1-1 just four days earlier.

Strong opener against Senegal

Algeria will face Senegal on Sunday afternoon (17:00 GMT) in Rabat as the curtain-raiser for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament, featuring 16 teams for the first time ever, will be held in Morocco for a record third consecutive edition from July 26 to August 16.
