2028 Olympic qualifiers: Madagascar eliminates South Sudan and advances to the second round
Madagascar’s journey continues. This afternoon at Juba National Stadium, the Barea women clinched a 1-0 victory over South Sudan, confirming their qualification for the second round of the African Olympic qualifiers for Los Angeles 2028.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams. On June 9, the Malagasy side secured an away win in Juba with a lone goal. With this result, the Barea women keep their Olympic dream alive and move on to the next round.
The next step promises to be even tougher, as Madagascar’s women will face South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the second round scheduled between October 5 and 13.
