After being eliminated from the CAF Champions League, are Orlando Pirates in danger of another cup exit this week?

Following a disappointing elimination from the CAF Champions League, Orlando Pirates now turn their focus to domestic cup action. Their quest for a swift redemption begins on Tuesday in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals against Magesi FC.

This season has already seen the Buccaneers secure one trophy, having clinched the MTN8 title in September with a commanding win over Stellenbosch FC. Their league form has also been promising after an initial stumble; they have recovered strongly to position themselves third in the standings, within striking distance of the top.

The continental exit, however, was a bitter pill to swallow. Despite a heroic comeback in the second leg to force a penalty shootout, their journey in the Champions League ended abruptly. This early departure is a particular setback for a team that had progressed to the competition's semi-finals just last season.
