Algeria: Vladimir Petkovic, it’s official!

Algeria has rediscovered a calmer momentum since Vladimir Petkovic’s arrival in the spring of 2024. Appointed through 2026, the Bosnian tactician quickly restored a competitive edge to the Fennecs, sealing a convincing qualification for the 2026 World Cup after a well-managed campaign. Eight wins in ten matches, over fifty goals scored in about twenty games, and a stabilized defense: the numbers speak for themselves, even if the 2025 AFCON campaign ended prematurely.

FAF banking on continuity

According to several Algerian media outlets, Petkovic is now close to extending his contract. Inside the Federation, the idea is to secure his future before the World Cup to ensure the technical continuity essential for preparation.

In a tough World Cup group where Algeria will notably face Argentina, stability is seen as a crucial lever. Beyond results, the FAF seems determined to build its project for the long haul, convinced that consistency and time are the true foundations for renewed international ambition.
