Ballon d'Or 2026: Florentino Pérez makes a decision

After deciding not to show up at Camp Nou for Sunday's Clasico, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will not be present at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday evening in London, England.

While Real Madrid are preparing to make their big return to the Ballon d'Or ceremony, one notable absentee is expected among the Merengues. Indeed, according to information from The Athletic, president Florentino Pérez is not on the list of people who will travel to London on Monday evening to attend the event.

Yan Diomandé expected at the ceremony

According to The Athletic, the Madrid delegation is expected to include Emilio Butragueño (vice-president), Marc Cucurella, Yan Diomandé (nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the best young player), Felicia Schroder (women's team) and Kylian Mbappé. The British outlet reports that the Real Madrid dressing room is convinced that the France international, who scored twice against FC Barcelona on Sunday evening in La Liga (1-2), will win the coveted prize. The answer will come on Monday evening.
