Ballon d'Or 2026: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will miss the ceremony

Nothing seems to be going right for Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgia international, who was injured against FC Barcelona in the Champions League, will also miss the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony.

After an excellent 2025-2026 season with Paris Saint-Germain, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (25, 7 matches and 1 goal in Ligue 1 this season) had a chance of winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or on Monday evening. But in recent hours, the Georgian's chances appear to have completely faded.

Kvaratskhelia absent from the Ballon d'Or ceremony

According to information from French daily L'Equipe, the Georgian winger will not travel to London to attend the ceremony. This is because his right knee surgery is scheduled for the beginning of the week in Doha. This probably indicates that he will not receive the award.

After suffering a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, Kvaratskhelia is not expected to return to competition before the start of next season.
