Dominant from the opening minutes, Barça suffocated Racing Santander and went into the break with a three-goal lead.

FC Barcelona were quick to show the difference in quality against Racing Santander on matchday six of La Liga. After just eight minutes, João Cancelo opened the scoring with a curling shot from more than 20 metres, set up by Lamine Yamal. The ball struck the crossbar before finding the back of the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Barça then continued to step up the pressure. Sent through into space after a superb pass from Pedri, Raphinha was brought down in the penalty area. Following a VAR review, the penalty was awarded. The Brazilian converted it by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to score his seventh league goal of the season.

Racing briefly kept their hopes alive through Maguette Gueye, who won his one-on-one against the goalkeeper after two favourable deflections. But Cancelo struck again in the 36th minute with a real thunderbolt from outside the box to restore the Catalans’ two-goal lead.

In the 42nd minute, Raphinha was played in by Dani Olmo between the two centre-backs and scored his second goal, taking his tally to eight in La Liga this season. Already highly influential since the start of the campaign, the Brazilian once again confirmed his excellent form, after Barça had closed the door on his departure this summer.

In the final seconds of the first half, Karim Adeyemi won another penalty after being brought down in the area. This time, Lamine Yamal stepped up to take it, while Raphinha could have gone for a hat-trick. The young Spaniard ultimately missed his shot. Despite that failure, Barcelona went into the dressing room with a commanding 4-1 lead, continuing a perfect start to the season after five wins from five matches.
