FC Barcelona have scored at least five goals in five of their first seven matches of the season, across all competitions. Wednesday evening's 7-2 win over Racing Santander allowed the Catalans to extend an attacking run already marked by four emphatic victories.

Barça had previously reached that mark against Elche (5-0), Rayo Vallecano (5-2), Valencia (5-0) and Feyenoord (5-1). With the seven goals scored against Racing, the Catalan club now have 33 goals in seven matches, an average of 4.7 goals per game.

Five matches with at least five goals

Barça's start to the season can be summed up by seven results: a 5-0 win away to Elche, a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club, a 5-2 win against Rayo Vallecano, another 5-0 away victory against Valencia, a 5-1 win over Feyenoord, a 4-2 victory at Levante and, finally, the 7-2 win over Racing Santander.

Five of those seven matches therefore saw Barcelona score at least five goals. The only two exceptions were the victories over Athletic Club (2-0) and Levante (4-2).

Before hosting Racing Santander, Barça had already scored 26 goals in six matches. The 7-2 result took their total to 33 goals after seven games.

A remarkable run after five matches

This attacking output had been established very early. After their first five matches, Barcelona had already scored at least five goals on four occasions: against Elche, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Feyenoord.

FC Barcelona then stated that the club had not achieved such a run since the 1921-22 season. Four of the first five matches had produced at least five goals for the Catalans.

The victory over Racing therefore adds a fifth match with five or more goals in the first seven games of the season.

33 goals in seven matches

This efficiency is also reflected in the distribution of the results. Barcelona have scored at least five goals twice away from home, against Elche and Valencia, and three times at home, against Rayo Vallecano, Feyenoord and Racing Santander. The 7-2 win was also marked by Raphinha's hat-trick, with the Brazilian scoring three of Barcelona's seven goals.

With 33 goals in seven matches, Barça are averaging 4.7 goals per game since the start of the season. Five of their seven opponents have conceded at least five goals.
