Bayer Leverkusen is considering extending Christian Kofane's contract!
Bayer Leverkusen are eager to lock down Christian Kofane's future, yet talks over a contract extension have hit choppy waters.
According to reports from Florian Plettenberg, the German club is looking to add two more years to the deal of the 20-year-old Cameroonian striker, who is currently tied to the Bundesliga side until 2029.

The Cameroonian is dissatisfied with his role in the team
For all his potential and the expectations placed upon him, Christian Kofane is said to be unhappy with where he stands in the squad pecking order. The young centre-forward has to contend with competition from Patrik Schick, who is regarded as the first-choice option in his position. That situation has reportedly made discussions between the player and Bayer Leverkusen's hierarchy all the more complicated.
Even so, the German club remain determined to keep their striker for the long haul, convinced of the room he still has to grow — as Africafoot exclusively revealed. An extension running until 2031 would send a powerful signal about just how much faith the Cameroonian is being shown.
Interest from several English clubs
Christian Kofane has also drawn attention from a number of Premier League sides, as Africafoot exclusively reported a few weeks back. The striker himself is said to be drawn to the idea of one day plying his trade in English football.
As things stand, no final decision has been announced regarding his future. If Bayer Leverkusen hope to extend his contract, they will need to find common ground with their player — particularly when it comes to his playing time and sporting prospects. The young forward is valued at €40 million on Transfermarkt. Christian Kofane earns an annual salary of €660,000.
