Manchester United enter the race
However, the situation took on a new dimension with the arrival of Manchester United. The English club have reportedly made initial contact with the player’s representatives. This approach comes as negotiations between Kofane and Leverkusen over a contract extension are currently suspended.
Kofane would still like to extend his contract with the German club, but is reportedly seeking new terms. The main disagreement, however, reportedly concerns the terms negotiated by his agency, Agency Afrosport, particularly the agent’s fees. Our analysis
The Kofane situation is of particular interest to Arsenal and Manchester United, as the young striker’s contractual situation could influence the rest of the transfer window. From a sporting perspective, Kofane still has significant room for development at 20. His statistics from last season and his start to the current campaign nevertheless show that he is beginning to play an increasingly important role at Bayer Leverkusen. For a Premier League club, his profile could therefore represent a medium-term investment rather than simply an immediate reinforcement.
For Leverkusen, the priority remains, logically, to secure the player’s future. An extension through 2031 would considerably strengthen the German club’s position in the event of concrete interest. Conversely, if negotiations remain deadlocked, Arsenal and Manchester United could try to take advantage of the situation to advance their efforts.
