It appears that Kaizer Chiefs is preparing to host a major event
There is a growing buzz among Kaizer Chiefs supporters, and at the centre of it sits a young defender by the name of Kabelo Nkgwesa.
A grand Festival at Kaizer Chiefs
The 21-year-old, whose full name is Kabelo Linda Nkgwesa, has convinced a number of Chiefs fans online that he is the genuine article. Known by the nickname "Festival," the versatile defender consistently sparks praise and excitement whenever his name appears in the comments sections on social media.
Meanwhile, the club has been handed a fresh concern. Versatile 20-year-old attacker Luke Baartman is now a serious doubt for Chiefs' upcoming Betway Premiership fixture after picking up a thigh injury while representing South Africa's U23 side against Algeria. Baartman had been a constant presence for Chiefs this season, featuring in all seven of their league matches.
On a more encouraging note, the club's lengthy injury list is slowly shrinking, with several players working their way back. Flavio da Silva has returned to training alongside Khanyisa Mayo, who has recovered from a hernia operation. Langelihle Phili, a 21-year-old winger, is also edging closer to a comeback following a serious ankle injury, and could be available for the club's home clash with Stellenbosch on Tuesday, 13 October.
Elsewhere, Vela Khumalo, who coaches the Chiefs Diski Challenge side, is convinced that 18-year-old sensation Steven Mendes already has both the raw talent and the maturity required to step up to the senior team. Mendes claimed the Golden Boot at the recent COSAFA U20 tournament held in Maputo, Mozambique. Normally a midfielder, he was deployed as a striker for the competition, and some of his teammates have taken to calling him "Stevie G."
