Bayern Munich, under the guidance of Belgian manager Vincent Kompany, have suffered a major setback ahead of their crucial showdown against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final.

In an official statement, the Bavarian club confirmed that winger Serge Gnabry will be out for several weeks. Medical tests have revealed an adductor tear, sustained recently.

Bayern clarified: “Serge Gnabry will be unavailable for an extended period. The attacking midfielder is suffering from a tear on the inside of his right thigh, diagnosed after examinations by the club’s medical staff.”

According to early estimates, the German international could be out for anywhere between four and twelve weeks, pending a more precise diagnosis.

This injury is a real blow for Bayern, especially as Gnabry had helped secure qualification against Real Madrid last Wednesday, before leaving the pitch in the 61st minute.

At 30 years old, the German international has played 37 matches across all competitions this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
