CAN 2025: Walid Regragui's first words after Morocco's victory
Despite a challenging start, Morocco managed to overcome Comoros in the opening match of CAN 2025. Walid Regragui shared his thoughts at the final whistle.
This Sunday, Morocco kicked off CAN 2025 on home soil by taking on Comoros. It was a potential trap game for the Atlas Lions, played under torrential rain in Rabat. After a tough first half, the Atlas Lions finally broke through in the second period thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi (2-0). At the final whistle, Walid Regragui expressed his satisfaction.
"It's never easy to start a tournament. The opening match is always tough. We did the job. We controlled the game in the first half but didn’t create enough chances. There was a lack of presence in the box. We reverted to some of our faults. We fixed that in the second half with the substitutions and the intensity we showed in the first half. As soon as we scored our two goals, we took control. It's a good sign. It was important to win the first match in front of our supporters. It's a great way to start the tournament," said the Moroccan head coach.
