The resolution of the dispute between Senegal and Morocco over the CAN 2025 title is drawing near, with a decisive hearing now scheduled.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has reportedly set a date to examine the legal battle surrounding the CAN 2025 final. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the hearing will take place on October 8, bringing together the Senegalese Football Federation, the Confederation of African Football, and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The proceedings will take place behind closed doors. Senegal will seek to overturn the CAF appeals committee decision, which had declared the Lions of Teranga forfeited and recorded a 3-0 win for Morocco.

No fast-track procedure

The parties involved were unable to agree on accelerating the process. As a result, the case will follow the regular schedule laid out by the CAS, explaining the significant delay between the filing of the appeal and the upcoming hearing.

After hearing arguments from all three sides, the arbitrators will retire to deliberate. However, a verdict is not necessarily expected on October 8. The final decision could be published several days or even weeks after the hearing.
