CAN U-20: Standings of the best third-placed teams after matchday 1
The ranking of the best third-placed teams plays a crucial role in this Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
According to the tournament regulations, two of the best third-placed teams will be selected and will therefore advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

They will join the two teams that finished first in each group.

After the first matchday of the CAN U-20 group stage, the standings are as follows:
1/ South Africa – 3 points
2/ DR Congo – 1 point
3/ Kenya
As a reminder, the quarter-finals of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations are scheduled for May 12, while the semi-finals will take place on May 15.
The third-place play-off is set for May 18, as is the final, both of which will be played on the same day.
Remember, the four teams that reach the semi-finals will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile from September 27 to October 19.
