Mudryk wants to leave Chelsea to regain his fitness

After a 20-month suspension for testing positive for meldonium, the 25-year-old has now committed to a season-long loan away from Chelsea in order to regain full match sharpness.

His ban concluded in July, and since then, the winger has been working to revive his career, featuring several times from the bench during Chelsea’s preseason tour under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Recent talks have revealed that Mudryk would prefer to stay in the Premier League, turning down interest from Strasbourg—Chelsea’s affiliated club under the BlueCo ownership—as well as several Serie A sides.

Leeds have now taken the lead in the race for his signature, chiefly because they are prepared to bring him in on a straight loan with no option to buy. That arrangement would let Chelsea keep hold of Mudryk's long-term rights while the Yorkshire club takes on his wage bill for the coming season.
