Controversy over donations to police: Kylian Mbappé’s camp responds
Kylian Mbappé

Recently, the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office launched a preliminary investigation into checks issued by Kylian Mbappé to five CRS officers totaling €180,300.

According to the latest information received this Friday, the lawyers representing Kylian Mbappé have responded to the growing controversy. They insist that the French national team captain has nothing to hide. “The donation received for the 2022 World Cup was lawful, made by check, and did not need to be declared. It makes no sense to retrospectively link this donation to the interventions carried out by my client in 2023 on behalf of Kylian Mbappé during public appearances,” stated Me Soufron.

The lawyer also commented on the commander who received €60,300: “These interventions, which brought no compensation in return, were part of his normal duties as head of security, especially since he had already performed similar tasks for other players during his 21 years of service to the FFF.”

Kylian Mbappé's entourage released a statement assuring that “everything was done in accordance with the rules” and “with no compensation whatsoever,” adding that “since joining the French national team, he has always chosen to donate all of his national team bonuses.”
