In recent hours, rumors have been swirling that Brazilian striker Rodrigo Rodrigues, forward for Espérance de Tunis, was the reason behind the latest sanction imposed on the club by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). However, the truth is quite different.

Elhouni, the real reason for the FIFA sanction!

In reality, the transfer ban imposed by FIFA stems from the case of the club’s former Libyan player, Hamdou Elhouni, specifically due to fines related to the late payment of his outstanding wages.

This dispute led FIFA to punish the club by barring them from signing new players until their financial situation is fully rectified.

The Bab Souika outfit has, however, announced that it has settled all fines related to this case. On his side, Hamdou Elhouni, together with his agent and lawyer, will officially notify FIFA that he has received all amounts owed to him, which should allow the sanction to be lifted in the coming hours.

As a reminder, FIFA included Espérance de Tunis, in its latest update dated June 30, 2025, on the list of Tunisian clubs banned from signing new players.
