Fagrie Lakay scores before missing crucial penalty in Egypt
Fagrie Lakay found the back of the net as Ceramica Cleopatra were held to a one-all draw by bottom-placed Ismaily SC in the Egyptian Premier League.
The South African forward broke the deadlock three minutes from the first whistle, before Abdelkarim Mostafa leveled matters from the spot in stoppage time.
Lakay had a chance to restore his team's lead, but he missed a penalty deep in additional time, which saw the two sides settle for a share of the spoils.
Cleopatra lost ground in the heated title race as they missed the chance to return to the summit of the Egyptian topflight standings, where they trail log leaders Zamalek with one point.
Lakay's team currently sits fourth with 36 points from 18 league outings, having played one game more than the top three in Zamalek SC, Pyramids FC and Al Ahly SC, respectively.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has now scored five goals and provided three assists in 21 matches across all competitions this season.
The former Cape Town City will be eager to maintain his fine form when Cleopatra visit fifth-placed Wadi Degla FC on Saturday, 28 February.
