OFFICIAL: Former Kaizer Chiefs striker lands new club in China
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Jasond Gonzalez has signed for Chinese League One outfit Nantong Zhiyun on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old centre-forward was unattached after his exit from Israeli Premier League side Beitar Jerusalem, who qualified for the UEFA Conference League.
He had joined Jerusalem on a six-month loan deal from Bolivian giants Club Always Ready with an option to buy, which was not triggered.
Now, he is set for a new chapter in the Chinese second-tier after parting ways with Club Always ready via mutual agreement.
Notably, Gonzalez is no stranger to Chinese football having spent the second half of last year with Shijiazhuang Gongfu, where he scored five goals and two assists in 12 games.
His new employers are currently gunning for promotion to the topflight as they sit third with 22 points - four points behind log leaders Guangdong GZ-Power.
The Colombia international could make his debut against Shenzhen Juniors on Saturday, with only the top two teams earning promotion to the elite league.
Meanwhile, during his spell at Naturena, Gonzalez failed to find the back of the net in 13 matches across all competitions, in what was a tumultuous period of his career.
