The eyes of African football enthusiasts will be on Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, this Saturday at 1 PM GMT, where the highly anticipated clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly will take place, as part of the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final (2024/2025 season).

On this occasion, Harris Chueu, former Mamelodi Sundowns player and ex-goalkeeper coach of the South African club, spoke about this confrontation, particularly discussing his former team's chances of reaching the final of the competition.

Chueu praises Aboutrika and believes in Sundowns!

In statements to the Egyptian site "Yallakora", Chueu assessed that Sundowns had every chance to reach the final: "A match between Al Ahly and Sundowns has never been easy for either team. In my opinion, the team that can exploit the home advantage, in front of its fans, will secure its ticket to the final."

He continues: "By that, I mean the team capable of scoring the most goals while avoiding conceding at home will take a serious step towards qualification. And I think Sundowns is well-positioned to do so."

Chueu also reflected on his memories against Al Ahly, particularly highlighting one of the great names in the history of the Egyptian club, Mohamed Aboutrika: "I am glad that exceptional players like Mohamed Aboutrika are no longer present today in Al Ahly's lineup. He was an extraordinary player, capable of tipping the balance on his own, whether at home or away."
