Ighalo No Longer Alone as Ronaldo Matches His Saudi Goal Record
Cristiano Ronaldo's officially matched Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo as the 8th highest goalscorer in the history of the Saudi Pro League, following his brace in Al Nassr’s 2 - 1 win over Al Riyadh on Saturday.
The 38 year old Portuguese forward who joined Al Nassr after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, now boasts 72 goal & 16 assist in just 73 league appearances extraordinary scoring rate that continues to underline his impact in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo Catching the Legends
With his latest performance, Ronaldo ties Ighalo’s long standing tally of 72 league goals, mark the nigerian striker set during stints with Al Shabab, Al Hilal and now Al Wehda.
While Ronaldo is still in peak scoring form, Ighalo, now 34, is nearing the end of his career and plays for struggling Al Wehda, who're fighting to avoid relegation. The Nigerian previously led Al Hilal to the league title in 2022 and won the golden boot that same season.
Ighalo’s Decline, Ronaldo’s Rise
Ighalo remains respected figure in the league but his current form pales in comparison to Ronaldo’s relentless consistency. While the Nigerian focuses on keeping Al Wehda in the top flight, Ronaldo's eyeing the all time scoring record.
With Al Nassr still chasing silverware & Ronaldo in fine form, it’s only matter of time before he surpasses Ighalo on the all time list and continues his climb among Saudi Arabia’s elite scorers.
