Issa Doumbia attracts interest from Roma and Juventus.
Issa Doumbia, the Italy midfielder of Ivorian descent, is starting to catch the eye of Europe's biggest clubs.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the Sporting CP player impressed scouts from AS Roma and Juventus with his display for Italy against Turkey at the Renato Dall'Ara stadium. That performance could strengthen the interest of both Serie A sides in the young talent.
Doumbia is tied to Sporting CP until 30 June 2031, and his current release clause stands at €80 million — a substantial figure that reflects the Portuguese club's faith in their young midfielder. The Lisbon outfit intends to keep hold of him and is unlikely to make any departure easy.
Roma and Juventus are competing
If AS Roma and Juventus want to make a real move, they will first have to deal with Sporting CP's firm stance. For now, both clubs appear content to simply monitor the player's progress after being won over by his international performance.
With Doumbia's value potentially rising fast, his contract and hefty release clause stand as a major hurdle for any suitors. Sporting CP is counting on his talent and seems set on continuing his development within the club rather than giving in easily to outside interest. On Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old is currently valued at €20 million.
