Lille: Bruno Genesio praises Ayyoub Bouaddi
French-Moroccan player Ayyoub Bouaddi is earning high praise from his Lille coach, Bruno Genesio.
Ayyoub Bouaddi, who is of Moroccan descent, has featured in 12 matches this season for Les Dogues and has taken on a more prominent role in the northern club’s play this campaign. Speaking to the media ahead of the clash with Nice this Wednesday, Bruno Genesio did not miss an opportunity to highlight his progress: “I used a famous phrase with Ayyoub, from a national coach: 'You need to toughen up your game.' He’s working hard, he’s put on muscle mass, and he’s winning aerial duels.”
He also added: “You can see he’s gained power as well, like his recovery run on Matthis Abline in Nantes. I’m not sure he would have made that run last season. He’s someone who does what he’s told, and even more. Paulo Fonseca gave Ayyoub his debut at 16, and obviously, you don’t stop progressing at that age. Both Paulo and I knew he needed to develop physically to be able to play back-to-back games—now, that’s the case. He’s making strides in that area, and also in the areas where he was already well ahead.”
