Liverpool resumes talks over Alexis Mac Allister
Having joined Liverpool from Brighton in the summer of 2023, Alexis Mac Allister quickly established himself as an important part of the midfield. At 27, the Argentina international wants to continue his journey with the Reds, and talks over a contract extension have reportedly now resumed.
Mac Allister continues to deliver decisive performances
Liverpool signed Mac Allister for around £35 million, matching his release clause at Brighton. The Argentine subsequently signed a five-year contract. In recent days, the midfielder has particularly caught the eye.
Against Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League, he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. He was decisive once again against Tottenham in the League Cup, opening the scoring in Liverpool’s 3-1 win. After that match, Mac Allister also highlighted his well-being at the club and the importance of the supporters’ backing.
A new contract now under consideration
The player’s contractual situation had recently attracted attention. Before the match against Atlético, Mac Allister explained that Liverpool had not yet offered him a contract extension, while acknowledging that the situation disappointed him. He also clearly expressed his desire to continue with the Reds. According to Indykaila News, Liverpool have since resumed negotiations with their midfielder over a new contract.
Since joining, Mac Allister has recorded 21 goals and 21 assists in 156 appearances in all competitions. These statistics illustrate his influence in attack, in addition to his role in midfield.
