Minor injury for Hadj Moussa, Van Persie reassures fans!
As part of their preparations for the new season, Feyenoord Rotterdam played a friendly against Gent this Saturday. The match, held at the Varkenoord sports complex, ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Dutch side.
But what truly caught everyone’s attention was the notable absence of Anis Hadj Moussa (23), who was left out of the squad by coach Robin van Persie.
In his post-match statements, the Dutch manager revealed that the Algerian international picked up a minor sprain during training. As a precaution, he was rested to preserve his fitness for upcoming fixtures.
"Anis is continuing with individual work. He’s making progress, but we preferred not to take any risks at this stage," explained Van Persie.
Heading for a move to Benfica?
This absence comes amid persistent rumors of advanced negotiations between Feyenoord and Benfica, with the Portuguese club reportedly keen to sign Hadj Moussa as a replacement for Ángel Di María.
According to sources close to the Lisbon side, a new and improved offer has been sent to the Dutch club. However, Van Persie would prefer to keep his player, who is seen as one of the team’s key assets.
Last season, Hadj Moussa delivered an impressive campaign with 11 goals and 6 assists in 44 appearances. His market value is currently estimated at €14 million by the trusted site Transfermarkt.
