The Moroccan national team is waiting to hold 2 international friendly matches against Tunisia and Benin in June 2025 after the Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed this, so that the 2 match will be part of the national team’s preparations for the African Cup of Nations.

The official statement said that the Atlas Lions will play against Tunisia on June 7 and Benin on June 10, both match will be held in Morocco.

This comes after Eritrea withdrew from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which gave Morocco the opportunity to play friendly matches in June. Before these matches, the team will face Niger and Tanzania in World Cup qualifiers in March.

Given Benin's playing style's similar to that of Comoros (one of Morocco's rivals in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations), coach Walid Regragui specifically asked to face Benin as opponent, while Tunisia sees Morocco as strong test before its Africa Cup of Nations clash with Nigeria.

Benin coach Gernot Rohr welcomed the match, saying it would be strong test for his team ahead of the tournament.

Morocco plans to play three more friendly matches in November and December to complete preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on 21 December 2025.
