The controversy is growing in Spain following the Madrid derby in the UEFA Champions League.

Several experts in Spain believe that the 2-1 goal for the Merengues scored by Moroccan Brahim Diaz is tainted by an offside position of Vinicius Júnior, which allegedly obstructed Jan Oblak's view of the ball's release.
Our expert Moviola Amine Barkallah analyzed the action

Firstly, it must be noted that an offside position is considered when the attacker is in the same trajectory as the ball, thus preventing the goalkeeper from seeing the ball's release.

However, in this play, Vinicius Júnior completely cleared Jan Oblak's line of sight when Brahim Diaz took his shot. Proof of this is that the Slovenian goalkeeper stretched normally and attempted to block the ball but was too short to make the save.

Clément Turpin had a successful match
The French referee was flawless in the Madrid derby despite the particularly special context of this major UEFA Champions League fixture.

For his 6th match in the 2024-2025 edition of the Champions League, Clément Turpin issued only one warning against Moroccan Brahim Diaz.

To recall, he has officiated 54 matches in the UEFA Champions League with a record of 187 yellow cards, 11 red cards, and 29 penalties.
