Official: The venue for the AFCON qualifier match between South Africa and Kenya has been confirmed.
Next month marks the return of Bafana Bafana to competitive action, with two consecutive 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers lined up against Kenya.
Under the guidance of Pitso Mosimane, the South African side will play host to Benni McCarthy's charges on Friday, 13 November 2026, before making the trip to Nairobi for the reverse fixture on Tuesday, 17 November 2026. The opening match at Orlando Amstel Arena is set to begin at 18:00.
These two encounters carry added weight, as McCarthy will be going up against his native country for the very first time since he took the reins of the Kenyan national team. The former Bafana Bafana striker will also get the chance to pit his wits against Mosimane on South African soil.
Good results for Avana Bafna and a step closer to qualifying for AFCON 2027
Bafana Bafana have climbed to the summit of Group D following victories in both of their AFCON qualifying fixtures in September. Mosimane's side first overcame Guinea 2-1 in Johannesburg, before delivering a commanding 5-0 triumph over Eritrea in Egypt.
During that same international window, South Africa also claimed a 1-0 victory against Egypt in Cairo, a result that has further lifted the team's confidence as the next round of qualifiers approaches.
This strong sequence of results has likewise propelled Bafana Bafana up the FIFA rankings, with the national team now sitting 48th globally and 10th on the African continent.
Mosimane is anticipated to unveil his preliminary squad in the days ahead as momentum builds toward the double-header.
Occupying pole position in Group D, South Africa's forthcoming clashes with Kenya may well prove pivotal in their pursuit of a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
Should Bafana win both encounters against Kenya, and provided Guinea drop points against Eritrea in at least one of their two meetings, qualification could be secured.
