Official: Yaya Touré takes on his first head coaching role on the Slovan Bratislava bench
After several stints as an assistant coach, Yaya Touré has become a head coach for the first time in his career. This Saturday, Slovan Bratislava officially announced the signing of the Ivorian star to take over from Vladimir Weiss.
For Yaya Touré, this marks the first time he will lead a team as the main man in charge. The former Manchester City and Monaco playmaker is finally stepping up to the challenge on his own after years of learning and progression.
The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations champion has signed a three-year contract with Slovan Bratislava, the eight-time Slovakian champions.
Touré's CV as an assistant coach is already impressive: from Russia with Akhmat Grozny, to Ukraine with Olimpik Donetsk, to Belgium with Standard Liège, and even a spell working with the Saudi national team.
