Ouaddou is pleased with the emergence of a new name and hopes for the recovery of an important player!
In the wake of Orlando Pirates' commanding 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou addressed the media with a mixture of concern and admiration. The Moroccan tactician provided an update on the injury sustained by winger Kamogelo Sebelebele during the MTN8 final, revealing that the player remains under the careful watch of the club's medical staff.
Abdulsalam Odu hopes that his player's injury is not serious
While Ouaddou remains hopeful that the setback is not severe, he candidly acknowledged that Sebelebele will be unavailable for the Buccaneers' forthcoming Champions League clash.
"Look… he's still being assessed by the medical department, I still hope it's not so bad but we will have some more news soon," Ouaddou stated.
"I think for the Champions League, definitely I can't use him, but we will see for the next games if we can have him or not, we hope it's not too bad."
An opportunity for other names
Sebelebele's absence opened a window of opportunity for Bulelani Sigomoshe, the club's recent acquisition from Milford FC, who seized his moment by making his Pirates debut in the right-back position. The newcomer delivered an impressive performance, spending over an hour on the pitch in his first start and even providing an assist during the comprehensive win over Galaxy.
Ouaddou reserved special praise for the youngster's demeanor, particularly noting the moment he was substituted, as the coach made a deliberate effort to commend him for his contribution.
"When he came out I just congratulated him for the time he spent on the pitch, it's really… a player with fantastic mentality, for me – if I can have many players like that to work with, I will be the most happy coach," Ouaddou said.
The coach went on to explain that Sigomoshe's inclusion in the starting lineup was a deliberate reward for his dedication behind the scenes, even though other alternatives were at his disposal.
"Fantastic mentality, very professional, very respectful, he's worked very hard in training, so we wanted to give his opportunity to play today, we had other options, we could have gone for another choice, but I wanted to reward him for the work he's done in training."
