Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has given a verdict on the debut performance of Njabulo Blom in their one-all Betway Premiership draw with Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old midfielder featured for the entire 90 minutes against his former club, with Mduduzi Shabalala salvaging a point for the Glamour Boys as he canceled out Sinoxolo Kwayiba's opener.

He signed for the Cape Winelands outfit on a season-long loan from Indonesian Super League side Borneo Samarinda last month, leaving the Asian team after just two months since joining.

Blom has now reunited with Hunt, under whom he excelled at Chiefs, and the experienced mentor gave a glowing review of his performance on his return to the calabash, having spent a prolonged period on the sidelines.

“When I had Blom at Chiefs I moved him from full-back into central midfield, he was magnificent for me here, we got to the Champions League semi-final and obviously [I was sacked],” said the Stellies boss.

"So, he was magnificent, I've got Darrel also, I signed Matsheke. The two of them were magnificent with me at Chiefs when I had them here from the kids [academy].

"But obviously Darrel is not fit as well, he didn't even come and Njabulo hasn't played for ages so [he's lacking] fitness. But you can see the power, you can see he's got a little bit of quality .

"And he's got power in midfield and that's what we need and I know he'll only get better. He got caught a few times as the game went on but he's got power, he'll be good for us, there's no doubt I know that.

Blom will be itching to get more minutes under his belt, with Stellenbosch set to return to action with a Carling Knockout Cup clash against a yet to be named opponent ahead of the round of 16 draw on Wednesday.
