Foot Africa has established that Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Black Leopards have sacked head coach Joel Masutha following a string of poor results.

Masutha returned to the Vhembe outfit this year in February, replacing former Moroka Swallows boss Zeca Marques after a short stint with neighbors Baroka FC.

The Limpopo-born tactician guided Leopards to a fourth place finish in the second tier last season but missed out on a playoff spot.

However, the club had a rocky start to the 2025/26 campaign, playing the first four matches under a FIFA imposed transfer ban.

Leopards couldn't register their new signings which saw them to play with a depleted team, forcing captain and defender Thendo Mukumela to turn out as a makeshift goalkeeper.

The ban has since been lifted but results have not been forthcoming as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City at Thohoyandou Stadium in their last league outing.

Lidoda Duvha are languishing in 14th place and are just two points off bottom-placed Baroka, having picked up nine points in 10 matches.

Now, a well-placed source close to the matter has confirmed to this publication that finer details between Leopards and Masutha have been ironed out and he has been relieved of his duties.
