After a disappointing start, Senegal is already fighting for survival. Up against Kenya this Thursday for Matchday 2 of Group A at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, both the Lionesses and the Harambee Starlets have no margin for error.

Senegal still believes

Beaten 2-0 by Algeria, Senegal needs to bounce back. Head coach Mame Moussa Cissé remains confident. “We know Kenya’s strengths, but the most important thing is to stay true to our playing identity. If we put our qualities on display, we can get the result. We have analyzed this team and prepared a tactical plan. Despite the defeat, we took some positives,” he said. For Cissé, his side showed promising spells despite the opening loss to Algeria in the tournament opener.

Kenya out for redemption

On the other side, Kenya were thrashed by Morocco 4-0. But head coach Beldine Odemba refuses to throw in the towel. “Senegal is a different team. We’ve never faced them before. We’ll need to adapt our approach, but we still have a chance.” Two teams with their backs against the wall. The winner gets back in the race.

Kick-off for this clash is set for Thursday, July 30 at the Rabat Olympic Stadium.
