Cape Verde making their AFCON debut
This is Cape Verde's very first match in the Women's AFCON group stage. The Blue Sharks clinched qualification in October after knocking out Guinea and Mali, and now they're diving into the big league. The coach has opted for a compact setup to limit damage and capitalize on counterattacks.

The challenge is formidable—Cape Verde failed to score and conceded 11 goals in their four warm-up friendlies. Still, there's ambition in this youthful squad, made up mostly of Europe-based players, with 17 plying their trade in Portugal (only two play in the domestic league).
