Real Madrid: Hervé Renard's response to Yan Diomandé's critics

This Wednesday, Hervé Renard defended Yan Diomandé as he announced his first squad since returning to the helm of the Ivory Coast national team.

Ivory Coast coach Hervé Renard announced his first squad this Wednesday since making his comeback at the helm of the Ivorian national team. The coach selected a 25-man squad including Yan Diomandé, who has not necessarily been at his best since joining Real Madrid.

This is therefore a way of confirming his confidence in the player, who has become a fully established member of the Elephants at just 19 years old (14 caps, 3 goals) since the second half of the Emerse Faé era. Hervé Renard also took the opportunity to poke fun at the Spanish press without naming it, after it had questioned Diomandé's place in the national team.

Indeed, after announcing his name, the Frenchman added a wry comment with a smile: "Some people were wondering whether he would be there."
