Sundowns shuts the door on African clubs for Lucas Ribeiro!
The South African club Mamelodi Sundowns has made a firm decision regarding the future of their Brazilian attacking midfielder, Lucas Ribeiro Costa.
The "Brazilians" management has flatly rejected any offers coming from African clubs, including Pyramids FC, who recently expressed interest in the player.
Sundowns blocks Pyramidsâ move for Ribeiro!
According to reports from renowned South African outlet "Soccer Laduma," the 26-year-old Ribeiro has caught the eye of several European clubs, particularly in Turkey and France. This interest aligns perfectly with the playerâs own ambitions, as he is eager to take on a new challenge in Europe.
Despite recent rumors linking him with a move to Egypt, Sundowns have made it clear they prefer a transfer outside the continent, be it to Europe or back to the Brazilian league. The club is determined not to strengthen a potential rival in the CAF Champions League.
For the record, Lucas Ribeiro joined Sundowns in the summer of 2023 from the Belgian league. He quickly established himself as a key player, racking up 88 appearances, scoring 37 goals, and providing 23 assists.
The Brazilian international also made headlines at the recent FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States, where his standout performances earned him the South African Footballer of the Season award.
