Over the past years, the international institution based in Lausanne, Switzerland, has overturned countless decisions made by the governing body of African football.

Here are the 3 major humiliations of CAF at the CAS.

Espérance vs CAF Case

In 2019, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) under Ahmad Ahmad decided to replay the second leg of the CAF Champions League final between Espérance de Tunis and Wydad Casablanca.

This decision was blocked by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which ruled in favor of the Tunisian club, declaring them African champions.

USMA vs CAF Case

The Algerian club won its legal battle against the governing body of African football in the dispute with the Moroccan club, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB).

The CAS invalidated the financial and disciplinary sanctions imposed by CAF on USMA.

Eto'o vs CAF Case

The president of FECAFOOT approached CAF after being excluded from the list of candidates for the Executive Committee election scheduled for March 12, 2025.

The CAS annulled the CAF decision thus allowing the head of Cameroonian football to participate in the election.
