The Croatian Football Federation announced the decision via their official account on X on Saturday putting an end to speculation surrounding the 40 year old playmaker's international future.

Modrić held direct discussions with newly appointed head coach Slaven Bilić and HNS President Marijan Kustić confirming his complete physical readiness to compete in the Nations League.

The midfield maestro enters the tournament holding a historic record of 202 international caps, having led Croatia to unprecedented heights on the global stage.

A reunion 14 years in the making

The campaign also marks a poignant reunion between Modrić and Slaven Bilić who managed the national side between 2006 and 2012 and gave Modrić his fundamental breakthrough as a cornerstone of the national team.
