"They are older"... a coach sounds the alarm at the U-20 AFCON
Tanzania head coach Boniface Mkwasa has raised doubts about the real age of Sierra Leone’s players in the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The head of the young Kilimanjaro Stars did not hesitate to voice his frustration after losing to the Lone Stars by the narrowest of margins in Group A.

These are local players—most of them play in the second or first division. Even this Sierra Leone team, if you look at them, they’re a bit bigger and, in terms of age, they’re not under 20. But we will double our efforts to develop this youth program so we can build a competitive and solid team for the future.

CAF’s lax attitude continues
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) did not see fit to conduct MRI scans before the start of this U-20 AFCON.
This is quite a surprising decision, especially since they have implemented MRI checks for the U-17 AFCON.
The governing body of African football has some serious work ahead if it wants to safeguard the credibility of its competitions.
