Walid Regragui one step away from an unprecedented record with Morocco
The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, aims to extend the winning streak of the Atlas Lions in the matches against Niger and Tanzania, scheduled for March 21 and 25, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The 49-year-old tactician is one step away from an unprecedented feat: ten consecutive victories, a record never before achieved by a Moroccan coach.
Regragui has already lined up nine straight wins, between the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, where Morocco topped their group with 18 points (six wins in six games), and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with initial victories against Tanzania, Zambia, and Congo.
Sahraoui and Talbi return to training
Another reason for Regragui's satisfaction: the training sessions, organized after the breaking of the fast due to the month of Ramadan, saw the return of Osame Sahraoui and Chemseddine Talbi, now recovered from their injuries. Both players have gradually resumed collective training.
The Atlas Lions will therefore have all their forces available to challenge Niger and Tanzania, with the aim of securing their qualification by finishing at the top of Group E of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
