The 2021 AFCON winners will face off against Sudan and Togo in the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The first training session for the 'Lions' was notable for the absence of 11 players who were committed to their respective clubs in various European leagues.

Among the 15 players present was newcomer Assane Diao, who recently switched his sporting nationality from Spanish to Senegalese.

The squad is expected to be complete by Tuesday's training session, allowing coach Pape Thiaw to finalize his game plans.

Senegal aims for the top spot in their group

Trailing Sudan, the surprising leader, by two points, Senegal will attempt to claim the top position in Group B starting from this March international break.
