In an official statement released on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced the postponement of the Senegal vs Sudan match, part of the 7th round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Originally set for Thursday, September 4, 2025, the fixture will now take place on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 PM GMT at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. This date change has been approved by both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. The governing bodies granted the request to allow Muslim faithful to observe Maouloud in a spirit of reflection, as the celebration falls on September 4.
