Even though the number of participating teams at the 2026 World Cup has been expanded to 48, the prospect of a group of death remains very real.

Several teams find themselves in the second pot, despite being among the world's elite, due to their FIFA ranking, including Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, and Uruguay.

There are also some strong teams in the third pot, such as Erling Haaland's Norway, returning to the tournament for the first time since... 1998.

Not to mention the possibility of Italy landing in the fourth pot due to their participation in the intercontinental playoffs.
