2026 World Cup: Hugo Ekitike ruled out for France

Just a day after Hugo Ekitike was stretchered off against PSG (0-2), Le Parisien reports that Ekitike has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The consequences are immediate: Hugo Ekitike will not take part in the 2026 World Cup with Les Bleus this summer.

It remains to be seen whether it is a partial or complete rupture, which would mean different but lengthy recovery periods regardless. According to Le Parisien, Ekitike is not even certain to play again before the end of 2026.
