Al-Ittihad provide Thembinkosi Lorch injury update
Libyan giants Al-Ittihad have provided a brief injury update on influential South Africa international Thembinkosi Lorch.
The 32-year-old attacker is enduring a spell on the sidelines as he missed the club's last two games against Shabab Al Ghar and Al Tersana.
Ittihad, however, reigned supreme in both matches thanks to the tactical nous of recently appointed head coach Rulani Mokwena.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss will be itching to have his compatriot back in the squad, with the club searching for a first championship since the 2021/22 campaign.
Lorch has been instrumental since joining the 18-time league champions in a big money move from Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.
The ex-Orlando Pirates talisman has chipped in with three goals and two assists in five matches across all competitions for Ittihad.
“The player continues the gradual return to training phase, with the application of a rehabilitation program that focuses on restoring physical readiness and muscle coordination,” read the club statement regarding Lorch's injury.
Meanwhile, Mokwena will be looking to make it four wins on the bounce, with Ittihad set to welcome third-placed Elettihad on Monday, 20 April.
