ASEC Mimosas: Me Roger Ouegnin calls on his players to bounce back after elimination
The day after ASEC Mimosas were eliminated from the CAF Champions League, Me Roger Ouegnin visited the Gboro Gbata training center on Monday, October 26, 2026, to rally his players. The chairman of the board of the Yellow and Blacks reiterated his confidence in them, while urging them to focus on the national championship.
It is time for ASEC Mimosas to regroup. Still reeling from their CAF Champions League elimination against MAS of Fès, the yellow-and-black club must quickly turn the page and focus on the rest of the season. With this in mind, Me Roger Ouegnin met with the players and coaching staff on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Gboro Gbata, in the presence of the club's general manager.
For around fifteen minutes, the chairman of the board delivered a message combining understanding, firmness and confidence. Aware of the disappointment caused by the elimination, he urged his players to accept the realities of football and look ahead to the upcoming challenges.
“I can understand everyone's great disappointment. This is the harsh reality of football. Football can sometimes be cruel,” he acknowledged in front of the squad.

The championship as the new objective
Although the Mimosas' African campaign came to a premature end, the season is far from over. Me Roger Ouegnin therefore reminded his players of the importance of the national championship, whose resumption had been announced for the following Thursday.
“This season, the African Cup is over. From Thursday, you will begin another competition, the championship. It is very important, because without this competition, you will not be able to return to the African Cup,” he stressed.
For the Ivorian official, the priority is now to quickly regain their focus and efficiency so that ASEC Mimosas can move forward again. Addressing the captain in particular, he called on the entire squad to take responsibility.
“Captain, you need to pull yourselves together immediately. What happened is over! You must now focus on the championship,” he said.
The Yellow Wall, a bond to preserve
Beyond the sporting aspect, the meeting also gave the chairman of the board an opportunity to address the tensions that arose at the final whistle of the match against MAS of Fès.
After the defeat, the players had gone over to the supporters to apologize and thank them for their presence. However, the gesture was met with hostile reactions and objects being thrown.
Me Roger Ouegnin deplored the situation, while asking his players not to break their connection with the public, particularly with the Yellow Wall, the club's official supporters' group.
“You will do it again after every match. You will go and greet them again. If they throw objects at you, you will leave calmly, but you will have done your duty,” he advised.
Through this message, the chairman of the board sought to remind the players that they must continue to show their appreciation to the supporters, regardless of the results. It was a way of preserving the values of respect and commitment that unite ASEC Mimosas with its fans, despite the difficult moments.
“I have confidence in you”
Despite the continental elimination, Me Roger Ouegnin did not fail to acknowledge the efforts made by his players in the match against MAS of Fès. While he recognized that their determination had not been enough to secure qualification, he urged them not to dwell on regrets.
“Yesterday, you wanted it, but it did not happen. And yesterday is over. We are in today, we are in tomorrow, we are in the day after tomorrow. You must get back up immediately,” he emphasized.
For the head of the Yellow and Blacks, returning to winning ways remains the best way to regain serenity and win back the hearts of the supporters.
“The only way to find joy again is to start winning again. And that depends on you. If you want it, you can do it,” he stated.
At the end of his address, Me Roger Ouegnin delivered one final message to the squad: “Pull yourselves together, I have confidence in you.”
The official then shook the hand of every player and every member of the coaching staff, thereby reaffirming his support for the team.
ASEC Mimosas must now turn its disappointment into strength as it approaches the upcoming domestic fixtures. Following the African setback, the Yellow and Blacks will be expected on the pitch, where results will be the best way to restore confidence and meet the expectations of their supporters.
